Any Accuphase e202 owners

Hi, just looking for any owners of accuphase e202's to ask a favour if I may, if you just have speakers connected and have the amp set to 'separate', do you have any hum comming from the speakers? Trying to ascertain if this is normal behaviour or not.

You will still get the low level hum during the protection cycle when the pre and main are separated and is normal.

edit: Remember, it's there to protect against abnormal load impedances and your speakers. The amps are still functioning normally regardless if the pre and main have been separated.

I know about the hum while the protection circuits doing its thing, but its after this when it hums.

Assuming you were referring to the short protection low level hum for the protection delay then it's perfectly normal whether it's in coupled or separated mode. If there is hum constantly then it should be obvious that this is not normal regardless.

Brief hum when first powered up = normal.
Constant hum = abnormal.

More of an explanation, with just speakers connected, no input and the switch on the back switched to separate, the poweramp hums, connect a powered up input to poweramp in, hum goes, switch the input off hum returns. (obviously the amp is powered off whilst the input is connected

Is this normal?
