Any Advice???? Sony STR-2800 Technics SL-DD2

Pretty sure I just killed my pride and joy. I collect vinyl and had a vintage setup, came back one day and the computer monitor that was on the same outlet seemed to have shorted and died, and now receiver and turntable are not working.

I have had them for years and they have always been great. I have no personal experience in electronics repair but I think I could be capable if I tried.

Receiver Sony STR-2800, doesn’t turn on, no lights, no power to speakers or headphones.

Table Technics SL-DD2, queueing switch makes arm go up, however motor does not spin platter.

Should I try to do some repairs or are they worth repairing? or do they just need replaced??

Willing to try things and answer additional questions. Literally sitting here almost crying.

I have tried other electronics in the same outlet and they are getting power. appears the outlet is working. the monitor that blew does not work in any outlet, it was old and the power supply got pretty hot, I think it failed.

The audio stuff is difficult to move, so I have not tried it in any other outlets, but I’m assuming I would have the same results.

I would be willing to check the fuses, but I have no electronics knowledge. I have found owners manuals for both the turn table and receiver.

It just may be the fuses. They are very easy to check, but be warned- a visual "OK" doesn't always mean an electrical "OK". Do you have a multimeter?

I know that I would have to get one in order to check the items on the board, but right now, no I do not have one

Around $10 at Walmart for a multi meter that would do what you need to do.

Or if fuses are cheap enough just replace them and see...

Vinyl Engine has a service manual for the turntable. You can download it and check to see if there is a fuse. I know the older, higher end direct drive models (e.g. 1200, 1300) did, but I think it's on the circuit board, not something that can be replaced from the rear.
