Any experience w/ McIntosh warranted repairs and time to completion?

As my MC275 Mk. V is in Binghamton for a repair and it's sorely missed (to my dealer December 15, 2007 and, I believe, to McIntosh around a week later), anyone care to share their experience(s) with McIntosh repairing its equipment, especially equipment still under warranty? How long did the repair(s) take?

My loaner: Rogue Audio "Atlas." :thumbsdn:

Thanks!

I would suggest contacting McIntosh service directly at 607-723-3512 and ask for Sharon. Give her your serial number and the dealer you bought it from and she will give you the status. She did state that they just finished up a warranty MC275, so there is a good chance that it is yours.

Folks,

Ya gots to love Ryan, the personal guru for all McAddicts experiencing audio withdrawal due to component separation anxiety.:thmbsp:

... and within 30 minutes, a return call from Sharon describing the problem (one open screen resistor and one bad tube connection), the fix and letting me know the amp should be in my hands this coming Monday.

Oh boy!

You're pretty lucky with that turnaround time.

My McIntosh MLD7020 Laserdisc Player stopped working so I shipped it off to Binghamton for repairs about 2 weeks ago. At that time, Sharon told me the waiting list for service repairs was ~ 15 weeks.

I'm guessing the MLD7020 is no longer under waranty. :D

It took about 5 weeks to replace the drive in my MVP851, although it seemed much longer.:tears:

It's definitely not under warranty since it is ~ 12 years old. I'm only trying to get it fixed since I got it for free; awesome laserdisc player when it was working. McIntosh said they still service the MLD7020 but that does not guarantee that all replacement parts are still available.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed on this one.

That McIntosh will still service a laserdisc unit is amazing (didn't laserdisc lose the format war?:D)

I would have never spent the money I did on my MC2000 if it made by anyone else! and that being the case, I would never have experienced such wonderful sound and satisfaction.

...and you will continue to enjoy it for decades with no problems. No one in the industry can say that with confidence except for McIntosh!

Just thought I'd update everybody on this topic; McIntosh was able to repair my MLD7020. The turnaround time ended up being ~ 24 weeks. The problem was just dirty optics.

I can't fault McIntosh Labs for the turn around time on repairs. Most people who own Mac gear will not settle on Joe Schmo working on it. There are exceptions for excellent repair besides McIntosh (Terry D comes to mind, and AC in Vestal), but there are not many I would trust. I expect the Mac service shop's back log on any given day is substantial, but my feeling is the wait is worth the results.

In the past, when my gear has need a helping hand, it has always been returned to McIntosh. I have a MAC4300V in Binghamtom right now with a tuner problem. I have no doubt when it is returned to me it will be perfect. After 40+ years of owning and enjoying McIntosh equipment I feel comfortable saying....McIntosh is the best!
