I just realized the anniversary of this post. Feb 15th 2007. Wow. I know I'm only here because of my recovery and dedication to the AA program. Thanks AA
I first met Bill W soon after a 10 day stay at a special ward at the hospital. They had sent in some kind of councilor to talk to me before being released. She gave me an address where I could learn about Bill.
That was going on 13 years ago ( Feb. 26 2008)
That "one day at a time" just rolls off the tongue so easy. It's still very hard for me to actually live it.
Forgetting past/future and opening me up to guidance from above. When I achieve that state of serenity good things happen.
I didn't know about this thread. I will put it on my watch list.
HHH
I'm not part of the program but I'm as sober as I'm able to be. Had a slip up around the holidays and that escalated quickly. Back on the wagon again and pushing on towards 40 days.

You might find that AA fixes your recidivism! I'm an atheist but I swear, there's magic that happens in those rooms! And.....you'll find friends you haven't met, yet!
About to pass 125 days and celebrating with a big victory (to me).
I'm off all my blood pressure meds. A year ago I was on two and barely controlled. As of today, I've been off everything for 2 weeks and sitting just about perfect at 118/76.

Yesterday I celebrated 31 years of sobriety. Wreckage of the past (Party Tax) is working against me now. In 1992 I was arrested for crack cocaine and took a plea deal to avoid prison. This judge was handing out years like candy. Fast forward to now. I recently decided to apply to get my FOID card re issued. I checked the felony box and was denied of course. And rightly so. I requested an appeal and was sent a form to state my case. Being a non violent no weapons case I have a chance. In my appeal letter I state I have been clean and sober since 1994. I went thru a 28 day recovery program and am still active in AA. I worked hard to straighten out my life and maintained a clean record. Yesterday was bitter sweet when I had to visit felony court at 26th and California in Chicago. I had to get paperwork proving that I pleased the court and completed probation. It's now the states decision to choose my reinstatement or let the IL prison review board hear my case. I will keep you guys up to date on this matter.
