Thinking of getting this for my family ( including a couple young teen girls).
Any air guitar rockstars out there with this?
Ton's of fun or boring real fast. i'm pretty sure my kids would love it.
C'mon, 'fess up; I know there's more than a few closet Eddie Van Halens and Ritchie Blackmores out there.......

It's fun. Santa brought both I and II last Christmas for my kids. They played non stop for about a month then it wained. Now it's good for a weekend about every other month or so.

It's nowhere as easy as it looks I can vouch for that.

Yeah, I've got the 2nd edition. It's rough for me on anything but medium. It sure does want you to learn how to play real guitar.

Just this weekend I was in a software store and this kid was playing some serious stuff. I had a hard time telling what it was they had the volume down too low but damb he could play.

I think there is a 3rd one out right now or is about to.

Yep, there is and that's what I snagged for our WII.

It is a lot of fun, but it is hard, even on easy. You really do have to get into the flow and feel of the song; it took me about 6 tires to get through "Slow Ride" on Easy.
But my 15 year old actually got to battle Joe Morello in her first set, but she's played before and likes DDR.
It's a lot like DDR for your fingers.
Good music though :thmbsp:

Since I play a bit of real guitar, I find it pretty difficult. The most recent time I tried the game went like this.

(game: You fail!)
Friend: You know, there aren't that many notes.
Me: Yes there are, I can hear them!

I bought if for my 16 year old boy. A pretty big hit for 2-3 weeks until Halo 3 came out. That's all he'll play now. I've got to admit, I jammed to The Almond Brothers Jessica tune quite a few times. We had a semi-formal party at my home with about 20 adults. I brought out guitar hero and it had most of the guys attention. I'm sure the women thought we were a bit weird though. Buy it, it's a lot of fun for everyome. The better you get, the more songs it keeps adding to your available songs to play. Some classic rock, some newer stuff.

I still play GH2 even tho I haven't finished the hard difficuty setting. It's just a fun game even alot of non gamers will play it. The 3rd GH is out but is done by a diff company then the 1st 2 games it got good reviews so should still be a fun game. Another game from the company that did the first 2 GH will be coming out with a game called rockband that will have guitar, drums and vocals! If you end up buying the game and you like it you may want to try Amplitude it's pre GH and uses the reg controller but is a similar game (cheap at under $20 for ps2).

My 15 year old has been taking guitar lessons for the last couple of years, so when GH1 came out, we got it. Since then we've gotten GH2, GH80's, and GH3. He has a cousin who also is 15 and they have GH wars. It's played all the time in my house, but not by me. First time I tried it in easy mode I was boo'd off the stage before the song even got half way through.

What it has done is get both my 15 and 10 year old listening to older music. They love the songs and my 10 year old even burned a CD with all Guitar Hero songs on it, featuring bands like Kansas, Black Sabbath, the Police, Stevie Ray Vaughn, etc, etc. I find this the most appealing part of Guitar Hero...
