Any hope for these Model Six speakers?

Hi friends,
Found these Cambridge Soundworks Model Six speakers abandoned in my town recycling center. They are beautiful. But when I brought them home, one works perfectly, while the other has persistent static - not in lieu of sound, but in addition.
I'd hate to consign them to the waste heap! Anything I can do to try and fix that issue? I'm not hugely proficient in tech fixes but I have done things like recapping.

Great find!

Pull the grills off and show us what they look like.

Remove the terminal cup on the back side. The crossover is likely attached to the inside part of the cup. Show us what it looks like.

With pictures we may be able to identify the problem if it is not readily visible to you
 
Wow you guys really think this needs to be refoamed???

LOL. Seems like you discovered your problem.

Don't play them until they are refoamed. I would refoam both, even if the other one looks good.

The static you heard was likely the voice coil rubbing inside the gap of the woofer with the blown surrounds. Too much of that will likely short out your voice coil.
 
If the tweeters both work then evaluate the woofers.

Place the speaker on its back and carefully push the woofer in a bit with a very well centered force. If there is no rubbing a refoam will bring these back to a good usable condition. Another test, again with the backs on the floor is low powered listening to verify no voice coil rub.

You do these tests with the speaker back on the floor to eliminate gravity from pulling the cone out of its correct centered position and causing rubbing.

When you refoam these. It is frequently recommended to install them upside down from the original installation. The spider, the connection between the cone and the frame will be stretched from gravity and flipping the driver over will give you another 25 years before the spider sags enough to cause rubbing voice coils.
