Any idea what model this Blaupunkt Stereo is?

Hey there! First ever post, so if I'm posting this in the wrong place, please let me know.

Long story short, a local classifieds user is selling her (presumably inherited) L75 Lenco turntable, a pair of Sony speakers, about 250 records, and a Blaupunkt Stereo for R3000 South African Rand (about $220).

While I'm familiar with the rest, I know very little about Blaupunkt, and have no idea what model it is. I asked her, but she doesn't seem to know either. Its a good hours drive away so I'd like to avoid driving all that way only to find the model number, and discovering that it's an awful buy.

I would greatly appreciate it if anyone here would be so kind as to point me in the right direction, or furnish me with its model number. Please see the image attached.

Hey Joshy,

Welcome to AK, the L75 if in good cond is worth the 200usd.

As for the Balupunkt, I'm not sure, you don't see them show up to often. Hopefully someone on the site can provide some good info on it.

If you do find the model number I'd check it against HiFi engine, should have the specs for ya.

I haven't heard the Blaupunkt name often. As far as I know they are more known for high end car audio (i know someone who traded a blaupunkt car audio deck for an 80's trans am if that means anything).

Looks like the stereo has shortwave channels on it. Just guessing without research I would say it is German. That being said the stereo could sound great.

As far as what's it's worth, I have no idea.
 
That's just cool as heck. Blaupunkt definitely German and usually good stuff. I have an old "Virginia" tube based table radio that is my one piece of not-even-trying-to-be-HiFi audio gear that I really like and am probably more attached to than I should be. Agree that at a glance it probably includes a SW tuner from the looks of it.

Sounds like a reputable brand regardless of what I’m looking at of theirs. Unfortunately, according to the Wiki, they went bankrupt in 2015.
 
Welcome from Germany to South Africa! :)

Blaupunkt was a famous German audio gear brand, best known for their car stereo in the seventies. They were amongst the best car stereo on this planet back then.

Blaupunkt made a wide range of table top and console radios along with car stereo.

As a manufacturer with world wide distribution there are literally dozens of different models in their catalog, not all we're available everywhere.

I have owned a couple of their home based products as well as several car stereo and was always impressed with the design and construction. Typical German over engineering with quality parts means many of these units are humming along 40-50-60 years on.

Even if it isn't a "forever" unit, grab the one in your post just for the "cool" factor alone, I doubt you will be dissatisfied.

Thank you! Besides the stereo, can the same thing be said about their turntables?
 
I have never seen a Blaupunkt Turntable other than in a picture, but I would imagine the same level of craftsmanship and engineering effort would have been applied there as well.

You have to remember that when these items were new it was a time when quality and craftsmanship we're the driving force of these companies, not profit.

It should make a beautiful and quite collectable pairing.
 
Joshy: Like quite a few of the German manufacturers, Blaupunkt didn't really make their own turnables and rather offered foremost German and Japanese OEM models. I have no idea, which of the Japanese turntable makers actually built the offered exemplar - but if you google for the NEC AUP-6300E, you might notice some similarities. ;)

Well, and as for that Blaupunkt receiver, I also can't help with a model number - but it seems to be a pretty unusual model...

Don't know the model, but it looks to be a world band radio with some shortwave coverage.
 
woodj: All in all one could say that the situation over here was similar to the situation in Japan, in that sense, that not all manufacturers (or maybe I should better say brands) made all of their stuff themselves. So we also had manufacturers who were not or hardly known for own products, but produced quite a lot of stuff for others - like for example Südfunk Apparatebau or Eben Elektronik. And of course a lot of stuff also came from Japan, especially from the late 70s on...
