So my moms friend has this console. She says it works and she remembers it sounding quite good. I have seen it before but it was covered with a blanket and covered and surrounded by boxes so I couldn't investigate. She wants to sell it to me and says I can just pay her as I can. I'd like to give her a fair price for it as she's going out of her way for me.

I'd like to know what I'm dealing with for a little bit of research. I found this identical console on CL this morning. Keep in mind hers is in working order.....oh how I hope it's stuffed with Mac and JBL :smoke:

Any ideas as to what lurks inside one of these?

Could be anything from an 8-track all-in-one to MC-30's, a c-20 and a MR-71....

Only one way to find out......:thmbsp:

Hi I!
One thing is for sure, you will need some help lifting it. It looks to be a solid piece of equipment. Maybe you will find something of value hidden in the recesses.

She'll be moving in about a month and we'll dig it out then. From what I saw it is solid wood with exceptional build quality. I know for a fact no 8 track as that's the first question I asked to get an idea of age (ish)
It has a JBL/Mac feel to me but I'm pretty clueless when it comes to consoles.

Not trying to burst a bubble but saw one of these a couple of months ago, at least the cabinet was exactly the same. It was circa 1973. It had Fleetwood solid state and a BSR table in it with Alnico drivers.

I hope you fair better.

According to her, her and her late husband (high profile New Yorker murdered in the 80's) bought it sometime in the mid to late 60's.

He was a big audio video nut at the time and she says he paid a "pretty penny" for it at the time. It was his "pride and joy" and is the last thing she has of his. She's pretty convinced it holds some gems inside, but that could be just about anything I suppose.

The console is gorgeous, I'd say some real craftsmanship went into it, and I doubt it's holding junk. What a delicious mystery!
