Any Info On Vintage Realistic Speakers

Let me clue you in on networking. Knowing the right people can lead to amazing surprises. A regular customer of mine knew of my fondness for vintage audio. She had a friend who was retiring and had some speakers I might have interest in. Long story short, we hooked up, spent a couple hours talking shop, which led to would you like this, how about this, interested in this? My wife's Outback was packed from the front seats to the back window and to the ceiling. Take? Pair of AR3a, pair of JBL L88, pair of RTR G-200, ARxa TT, MCS TT, MCS rack system w/speakers, and on and on. Dent in my wallet? $0! You just never know. Only time this has happened to me, and I'm guessing last time.

Never underestimate connections (networking!)

Not exactly, will depend on the equipment. Many manufacturers made a practice of running A&B in series to ensure this wouldn't be an issue. Simplified manuals as well not having to get into too much technical mumbo jumbo. Finding an owners manual will tell all.

Very true. My Kenwood amps are run in series. But I pulled up a picture of the back of his amp off e-bay and know it says A+B must be 8 ohms or more. So that was a give away to how his amp is wired.

Yeah, that would be phenomenal. That NEVER happens to me. Guess I don't have the right connections. I have found some pretty good deals, though. Nothing ever free, but good deals nonetheless. But, none of them have ever been through someone I know. Who knows, maybe I'll get my one and only time like you did eventually. That would be sweet. Maybe meet some old timer somewhere and start talking to him and he tells me he has an old McIntosh tube amp in mint condition along with a tuner he no longer needs sitting in his basement and just wants to get rid of it for $50?! Now, that would be SWEEEEEEEET!:thmbsp: :drool:

Really depends on the carpet. You're quite right if you have a thick pile dust collecting piece that you could rub a balloon on then stick to yourself. If however, the carpet is very flat, sparse and made of materials that don't charge or discharge much, well--if there is some space under the receiver it can draw air through it and heat rises (UP). I've had an old Pioneer on the floor for over a year, never gets hot, no static charge, nothing. YMMV. Check carpet thickness, height and materials before you try this at home boys and girls!
