Any Information about ONKYO Scepter 2000 ?

Hello,

I can get a pair of rare Onkyo Scepter 2000. These are 4-ways with 15" woofer, 8" lowmid, 1" horn with lens and supertweeter. Cabinets are as big as JBL4343s. Maybe they were sold outside Germany under another name. Has anybody listen to these speakers or has informations about performance ?

Thank you
Hjalmar

Ds2000 has a set of Septors, and may be able to give you some insight on this line. If the price is good, and they are the pictured set, I would check them out if possible. Beautiful looking speakers.

I use them..they are a pleasure to listen to.

I got them used six months ago in bad shape, but the damage to drivers was minor ,they have very pleasing sound.I had seen them listed on eBay from Germany ,in good shape for about 4000 euro.
I feel the music they deliver is easily worth this amount..

Can anyone chime in further about how the 2000’s sound might compare to other audiophile speakers? There’s a pair here for $1,000, but I already own Polk SDA1b’s that I like well enough — would the Onkyos be a big step up or a sideways move? I know the ultimate test will be listening to them, but they’re not set up by the current owner and these would be a huge investment for me to bring home and end up thinking “ehhhhh.” Meanwhile, I have not been able to find out much about them online, though they do seem to go for higher prices in Europe.

Also, any ideas about room setup? What do they require to sound their best?

It was like love at first sound for me..I have no idea about Polks..suggest you buy only after you listen to them..

Bring a amp and source and cables to him then listen to them. Asking us if they are better or worse is a waste of time only you can determine that.
