Any JBL gurus know what these are?

I just found a massive pair of 100+ pound JBL speakers at the goodwill after being told they where the loudest they ever tested I figured they where horn driven. I got them home and removed the large back to find.

Crossovers modle number N7000
mid woofer LE12C
tweeter 075

what are these things and are they any good?

LE12C is a coax. Unless it has been modified, you'll find a LE20 equivalent tweeter at the center of the cone.

It has been supplemented with the 075 "bullet" tweeter.

I've never tried that combination, but it makes sense, since the tweeter in the LE12C likely does not have good VHF extension. In that setup it's only covering 3 - 7 kHz.

075 is quite beamy. You'll have to be listening on axis to hear it.

I havent hooked them up yet are these very what DB are they at 1 watt?

I'd be guessing. They are relatively high efficiency. That's what JBL made back then.

It looks like the builder did some rational box tuning, so you may get decent bass out of them, as well.... :yes:

The components are all in my 1968 catalog. You'll find more info in the LHS library. Those look like '70s labels on the drivers.
 
I am blown away by the shear dynamics of these big dogs.They are just hooked up for a preview and I don't want to move them but my wife will win this one for sure.

They appear to be C38-size cabinets with a custom finish that matches the TV rather well, actually.

I think I'd be arguing for a minor furniture re-arrangement there.... :yes:

The T.V. is my wifes favorite thing,She is not warming up to them yet at all they are not unoticable to say in the least.
If I told you guys how little I paid youd hate me. But I did have to fight off a very upset ebay seller as I had allready taken the tags to the front to pay for them and he was offering more money to the goodwill and they said THERE SOLD! He was upset I wouldn't resell them to him,I was later told he gos there every day and gets stuff to resell on ebay.
 
Very nice!.. and at the GW??? I'm sure you got them cheap, considering a pair of the 075 drivers sell for $400 and more on the bay... you did REALLY good picking these up!
 
You know that ebay guy would gut them and sell the drivers and trash the cabs too. I hate it when they trash some real nice stuff just to sell the guts. They have no pride in presurving anything.
