I saw an old tube Sears Silvertone console sitting at the thrift store yesterday.Ihad a pull-out drawer for the turntable, and a drop-down drawer for the AM/FM tuner. My guess was it was from the 1950's.It was definitely tube and it had a single 8 inch or so speaker. It was in great shape. It was catalog number 9108. Any opinions on a console of this nature?

Its hard to generalize with Silvertone. Silvertone often subcontracted out the electronics in their units. So quality and capability are all over the spectrum. You can get really good tube components, or you can get really bad ones.

IMO. Good as a novelty set, nostalgia etc.
Most Silvertone consoles are combination chassis units of dubious quality.
And Mono.
Move on.
