Any opinions on Velodyne Servo 1200 subwoofer?

I don't really need another sub, but I have a line on one of these. It's from the early 1990s. I'm looking for something that gives accurate deep bass, for music more than HT (although it will be used for that as well). I'll be using it with KEF HTS 2001 satellites in a NYC apartment, so high SPLs aren't that important. I'm currently using a 10" Definitive Powerfield sub from the early 2000s (I think). Will the Velo be an improvement?

The feedback accelerometers like to go bad in those older Velo units and they are unobtanium apparently. You can bypass the servo circuit, but then you don't have a servo sub anymore. Frankly I would stay away from subs with accelerometer based feedback, unless they are dirt cheap.

I've had several F1200s and F1000s, and they do sometimes go out, but I was lucky enough to have mine repaired. When they're working right (I have one F1200 right now) they are very good performers.

I think they work best for music only, because the xmax seems to be low compared to the newer subs and the "out of the blue" deep bass explosions in movies tends to overwhelm and bottom out the sub....(I have the F1000) When paired with a pair of bookshelf speakers, great music listening can be had.......
