I have 2 bad 0705Ae tweeters out of a pair of Realistic Optimus 1Bs. I'm sure you all know, but 16 ohm tweets are impossible to find. Is there any way to replace them with some 8 ohm tweets, like the Phenolic 4" tweets found on Parts Express? Or, somehting else? Can I just do a simple modification on the Xover to accommadate the change from 16 ohm tweets (wired in parallel) to 8 ohm tweets? What are downsides, if any BTW, I really don't want to go the "econowave" route, at least not on these speakers. I really don't want to put too much into them, as they're my garage speakers.
If I use 8 ohm replacement tweeters, can I incorporate an 8 ohm resistor in each of the + wires going to each of the speakers (8 + 8 = 16 ohm), which would still be connected in parallel (no crossover mods), which, since the speakers would still be connected in parallel, would still result in a 8 ohm load?
Thanks
