It's that time of year again, the return of screaming Rally cars blasting through the woods of Maine at insane speeds!!! :banana:

The New England Forest Rally (Formally the Maine Forest Rally) is coming up soon, in July!:banana:

This is round 6 of the Rally America National Rally Championship, as well as being the final qualifier for the ESPN Summer X Games to be held in August in Los Angeles, CA.

This year The NEFR will consist of 11 special stages, ranging in length from 1/2 to 16 miles, with a total stage length of 103 miles. Friday's rally will consist of 5 stages - 28 miles; Saturday's rally will have 6 stages - 75 miles. Most stages will be run twice, in opposite directions. The last stage Friday evening may be run in darkness for some competitors. All stages are on gravel roads owned by DILLON LOGGING and SEVEN ISLANDS LAND CO. The roads range from medium fast two lane to narrower and twistier 1-1/2 lane.

There are designated spectator areas to watch the action from.

If you have never seen a rally race, they are a blast! There are also numerous volunteer opportunities available as well, which put you right in the excitement! Sign up info available in the link, as well as any other info you should need!

if ya ever come out this way. ya better sit down, an pray to someone ya make it outta the truck in one piece!:thmbsp: ive scared many people driving out in the woods an mud:yes: me+ woods, old fire roads= gas pedal to tha floor board
an holding onto the wheel, all while doin an EVIL laugh :smoke:

ive flipped, rolled countless cars an old beater trucks :scratch2:
i think im a mental case :thmbsp:
 
Stuwee, not my pics, got them from the WWW, but they are from the Maine Forest Rally in previous years.

The volunteers get the best view of the races! They get to block off the side streets that intersect the course, with their vehicle, and spend the day roadside with their coolers and cold drinks watching all the fun from close up!

Of course, there are some prime spots, like long sweeping corners, or the jumps where they get all four wheels several feet off the ground, that make for great viewing as well!

I'm gonna try to make it, if I'm not working that weekend... Wanna go, Jimmy?

July 11 - 12. thats a Friday and Saturday, Jimmy. They have pre-race stuff going on Thursday, and awards and stuff on Sunday, but the stages are run Fri/Sat....
