Any thoughts on Apple Music?

I am looking at them because they supposedly have one of the biggest music libraries going. Spotify's library is sorely lacking in a lot of the music I listen to. Especially older country. Anyone use them? How is their selection?

BTW, I don't own any iJunk, smart phones, or any other modern devices except for a computer. I thought that would be an issue, but several sources claim they now have a regular browser based web player like Spotify does.

Many streaming providers offer free trial periods - give 'em all a try and decide which you like best. I too, settled on Amazon Music HD. Fantastic library (60+ million songs), good user interface across devices, and great sound quality (IMHO).

I know that they have a free trial period, but unfortunately they want your credit card information before they'll let you start it. I hate doing that.

Maybe I'll try Amazon Music. I'd rather give them money than Apple.

That’s how things work in 2020. I have tried them all with free trials. My CC is safe, just remember to turn off auto renew until you find the one your going to use.

Curious about this one because apparently Google Play will be no more by the end of the year.
With Amazon can you (1) upload your own music (2) "cast" do devices?
Thanks!

Amazon, Qobuz and Tidal are content providers. I have not found where you can load your own music, doesn’t mean it’s not there as I don’t do that so I didn’t dig very deep. I use streaming for finding new stuff and back ground noise. If I like it enough and they have a vinyls release then I buy it, if not I just add it to my Tidal library.

Not much help but I am pretty sure you can’t.

You can buy Hi-Res downloads on Qobuz and Amazon.

AMHD - you cannot (or will soon be phased out) upload music to Amazon Music, like @GChief stated. It can see and play music stored on your device - PC program can see/play any music stored on PC - phone app can see/play any music stored on phone - it cannot see what's on another device.
However, there's a good chance AMHD will have said music anyway allowing you to simply stream it.
As far as casting goes...

If you have your own digital music such as purchased iTunes music, or music ripped from CD, the Spotify app allows users to load local files into the library for offline listening. So besides exploring for new music, you can listen to your own music within the same application.

It looks like Apple will be the only game in town soon for uploading your music and having it alongside their service soon. There are third party apps like Plex, but there is a benefit to having everything available in one app.

As others mentioned, the biggest drawback is the lossy encoding they use. They do have the Apple mastering process that helps sound quality, but hard to know how much without comparing track to track. The service itself is pretty good at making recommendations based on your taste and has a large library.

I have Apple Music and Qobuz, but I am home a lot these days and listening to a lot more music than normal. Away from home, I use Apple Music exclusively.

Amazon Music HD won't necessarily have the version of the audio you want in terms of mastering, it will usually be the current one. And the current mastering may or may not be the one you want.

I am using Apple music for a six month free trial when I upgraded our Verizon phones. I noticed recently using my alexa with them that when asking for certain music they play from that person or group's radio which I don't think sounds as good as it does from just their Apple music. This just seemed to happen in the last week or so. Has anybody else noticed this?

I am the same, I do not like to spread my info around if I do not have to,
I go to extremes with avoiding giving out info.

I needed to download a couple pieces of software that were free, but they wanted a TON of personal info. I completely made up everything except for my anonymous Yahoo email address and cell number for my disposable Tracfone.:)

For my Google account that I made just so I could sign in and watch Youtube videos normally and have a backup Gmail email account, the name I provided when they asked is First Name: "No" Last Name: "Name".:rflmao:

My Yahoo mail keeps begging for my cell number, but I keep blowing them off, and luckily it still lets me me log in.
