Any Utopia fans here?

Wow. I just finished watching the premier season of this amazing English drama/black comedy series: Utopia. Is anyone else here a fan of this beautifully shot and acted series? Supposedly, season two is already in production. Also, the soundtrack music is superb....just picked up the CD and love it.

Hmmm... kinda looks like there isn't.

I want to thank you for passing this along. From the IMDB description this series sounds like my cup o' tea. I'll be looking for a source here in the US. I don't think it's on BBC America but I didn't do a lot of research.

Thanks again!

Decatur Greg, you're very welcome. Series such as Utopia and Breaking Bad are so far above and beyond the usual pablum that passes for TV shows these days. More people should be aware of them.
If you find a way to view it, I'm sure that you won't be disappointed. Beware, however, of the dialogue. Most of it is in very colloquial English. Subtitles would be a great asset for this series. Also, it's not a BBC series. It's from England's Channel 4, if that helps.

regards,

Thanks again ElPee... that might explain why it isn't on BBCA.

Funny you made the comparison to Breaking Bad. That was one of my favorite shows. I was hooked (no pun intended...) from episode one!

I totally understand what you mean about the possible need for subtitles. I had a co-worker who I used to work with who is British. I would often ask her to explain sayings from films and TV.

I'll never forget the time she explained "knackered" to me... along with the origin of the word. I think it embarrassed her a bit... something I didn't think I could ever do. :lmao:

I know I'm bringing this thread back from the dead, but I abso-f'ing-lutely love this show. Unfortunately, it only ran for two series as the Brits call them. Series 2 was lacking compared to the first. I purchased both series on BR/DVD and am rewatching now for the 2nd time. They are every bit as rewarding as the first watch. A most interesting premise re/Earth's finite resources and overpopulation and one solution to those problems.

Just started the 2nd series tonight, am still really digging this show. Any other Utopia fans here?

Just finished the 2nd series tonight. This show just blows my mind. It is very timely and captivating. Absolutely a must watch IMO.

I LOVED this show when it was on. The first series got a lot of coverage over here in the UK as the 3rd episode
opens with a school shooting
and was aired just days after a real-life one in the USA.

Still, the way it was shot was so original, they weren't afraid to get graphic or have big, complex stories and ideas. Not enough shows are made like this.
