Any way to prevent a crack in a dustcover hinge ?

My ps x800 dustcover has cracks on the under side of both hinges. Is there any way to prevent those from getting worse ? When the dustcover is on the player the cracked part is not visible so as long as the fix works I dont really care how it looks. I was thinking of smearing them with some epoxy glue but I am not sure. Any tips ?

You can drill a tiny hole at the end of the crack to keep it from spreading,

Making a tiny hole will stop the crack from continuing. Then use a cyanoacrylate glue with capillary action (thinnest)

Before you put the hinge back on, make sure it operates freely and won’t break off your dustcover due to it being gummed up. Also consider making a gasket with something like the cardboard behind a pad of paper to both sides of the plexi if there’s enough of a space between the plexi and the hinge

The hinges themselves have to be cleaned and lubricated. Once they operate smoothly it will prevent the stress on the plastic and prevent cracking the dust covers. After cleaning the hinges, I use silicone bulb grease on the hinge pin and spring. I make sure it’s worked in thoroughly. It lasts a very long time without evaporating. (Spray lube evaporates.) But just make sure the hinges are well lubricated and work freely!
