Stephen Goode here from Fresno. Into vacuum tube audio, vinyl etc. I only know one other audio enthusiast in Fresno I always thought it was a musical wasteland. I am retired so I have alot of time for my hobby the only downside is lack of money. I can only afford and album a month that's if I don't need tubes, or ? my amp takes 8 power tubes ($400+). Anyway I would like meeting local people with common interest. I am 68 like music most genres [blues/rock, Americana, electronic, Psychedelic Bluegrass and more. Have about 4500 albums.
Hi Stephen, Welcome to AK. Visalia here. I'm running a tube rig with Klipsch Cornwals Almost neighbors. I don't get up to Fresno area very often. And Hi Charlie. We are close. Where are you, Dinuba, Kingsburg or over in the foothills? I'm in the North West area of Visalia.
Merced Cali here. I am a Sansui (mostly quad stuff) collector. And yes I know there are better stuff out there! My brother got me reinterested in vintage equipt when he brought me a Sansui 2000 reciever that he had acquired . I was working at the time so the next few years I started collecting mostly Sansui Quad equipment and quad media. I have been all over Cali from L.A. to Redding and from Monterey to Mammoth to get good deals. My best "Sansui" are the QRX 9001 receivers(Tahoe, Sac.) , An SR 929 TT (Palo Alto), SR 838 TT (Bay Area) , SD 5050 RR (Hayward) .
I'm about an hour and a half up into the mountains and out into the bush from the Grass Valley area. I'm really closer to Tahoe-Truckee-Reno than I am to Sacramento, but it's all "close" when you live in California... Driving three hours just seems standard to get to a show, or a party. I used to live in Humboldt, a solid two hours from Arcata. Now THAT was isolated.
Fresno here, was lurking long enough thought it time to register.
I'm into DIY electronics, vintage audio, video, musical instruments(mostly guitars, amps, effects, etc.) have a decent collection of Oscilloscopes, but still haven't learned how to utilize them.
