Well, looks like tonight and tomorrow night will be the height of our annual meteor shower! Check it out!

So is there anyone here who will be up in the early morning hours to catch any of this? I'll still be up tonight till probably 2, but i'm in the city. So i expect crappy viewing.

And while you're at it, if Saturn is still in your viewing check this out, also going on today!

I'll go out in the yard with a glass of wine in a bit. Or I'll walk down to the park that overlooks LI Sound... gotta look NE, correct?

Aborted. Too hazy and a bright moon. After 10 minutes I could only make out about a dozen stars, I don't have high hopes for seeing any but the brightest meteors and those would probably be few and far between. Oh well. If I'm still up in an hour I'll see if the haze has cleared at all.

Usually I watch from the east side of Mt. Rainier, a place at 6000 ft known as "Paradise", but with the economy the way it is I had to take a pass this year and work.
Maybe next year..........

Well, I went back out. The haze lifted quite a bit, didn't see anything for the five or ten minutes before a more solid cloud layer moved in. Bah.

I tried, and nada, well maybe one shot, very faint. Too many clouds and too much ambient light.
Maybe I'll try again just before dawn.

I saw one shooting star about an hour ago, and just came in from watching for 20 minutes without seeing any. Going back out now...

I was out looking and it is cloudy here now, bummer. I will check again in half an hour. I can usually see the meteor showers great from my backyard because I am in the desert away from the city.

Hell I don't get off work for another hour..Should be able to get some good viewing in here. The skys are crystal clear tonight..

Cool the clouds left. I saw some good ones already. Not like last year, yet, when it seemed like someone dragged a sparkler across the sky. I love the desert.

I went out west of town for 1.5 hours. I saw 3 dim meteors and two bright ones. The brightest was at 12:34 AM going from east to west. Did anybody else see that one?

I parked facing west and looked out the drivers window with the visor blocking the moon. I had a good view until some clouds moved in.

Just got up a little early to try, but haze combined with a neighbor leaving on a bright work light yielded nothing.

The brightest was at 12:34 AM going from east to west. Did anybody else see that one?

Dunno if it was the same one, but I did see bright and fairly long-lasting one to the South East, probably about 30 deg elevation, moving East to West. Would have been around that time.

Woke up about 2:30 this AM & went out for a look. Of course, the bright moon negated the very clear skies...but still observed 4-5 in 10-15 min. Probably would've seen triple that with no moon.

Great night last night for watching, billions of stars out.
Saw a bright something go from north to south about 10PM central.
Only watched for about 20-25 minutes.

I saw one good streak at around 7:30 pm (2 hours ago) and a few 'dots'. It's way too bright in the city, so seeing ANYTHING was a bonus.
