ANyone ever attempt making your own compression mid?

I have a pair of horns laying around and one driver is bad. Wondering about making one from a decent cone mid.

Just using the dome and voice coil/magnet in place of my blown dome mag assy...

Am I looking for disaster

Several years ago I made a couple of crude plywood "Horns" (More of a waveguide than a compression horn)

Approx. 12" deep, 10" wide 4" tall

Sounded decent.....
