Anyone familiar with this console?

Anyone familiar with this console? I know it's a Magnavox, but am curious about the amp. I want a Magnavox tube amp and was wondering if I should buy this console. The price is very inexpensive. Here are some pics:

Let me know if this is a good one or not!

Of course its a good one, and yes, it does contain a tube amp and it may also contain the model AMP175. Amp 175 has the 5U4 rectifier, four 6V6 (two per channel) output tubes, and two (one per channel) 12AX7 tubes.

Im no magnavox expert but the tt looks like the right time period. It is the same as the ones in my 3 maggie consoles. There was a set like that for sale here recently and there was a single tube amp in it. Take a flash light and look in the back it should be mounted flat on the bottom of the console under the tuner and tt. hope that helps

I really have to say, that as nice as that console looks, it would be a real shame to get it just to harvest the amp. I have to believe there enough trashed-out, beat-up looking consoles around that one that nice could be left intact. Just my opinion mind you.

I agree with you, but I really want just the amp. I will give the console to anyone that is willing to come get it.

And if I had a spare Maggie amp chassis laying about, I'd send it to you just to keep that one together.

If you had a spare maggie lying around then I would just trade with you and call it even.
Oh man, gimme a day or 2 and lemme see what I can come up with for ya! Would a restorable PP EL84 or 6V6 Maggie chassis do it for you? What are you looking for? Mission on!

Mmmmm.... sounds possible. Either of the above mentioned in restored condition would probably get the deal done. I pick up the console Sat so I will look inside and see what I got, etc. I won't mess with it until we talk again.

Just ad my 2 cents to the discussion :D I would say part it out. I know I know I am a horrible person, but being the console king, you have too. I had 2 high end mags, 1 highend admiral and 1 silvertone. Yes they were in great shaped good canidates for restore but I trashed them. Yes they are getting harder to find, but the fact is that no one wants them. They only thing worth any value and maybe 100-150 is the amp, mag console pulls have dropped in price. I moved them once and won't move them again. Its sad but really the point reminds no one wants them, you may want it for a while and agree never to part it out, but as the hobby progress you find bigger and better things. I know fist hand...yes I still have a ton of consoles.

1 emerson
1 harmon kardon
2 zenith
1 rca
2 ampex
1 fisher
1 radio craftsman
1 silvertone
1 midwest
1 air cheif
2 philco
2 phonographs

Keep it original! Gutting it would be like pulling an LS-6 big block out of a classic Chevelle just because you want the motor for your pickup project. Well okay, maybe a stretch, but you get the pic. That console is too beautiful IMO.

I say RIP the amp out and toss the rest in the bonfire:thmbsp:
the amps the only thing worth keeping in that old relic anyways, imo.
