Theres a pair of speakers for sale below, he said that the cones are bad and that he thinks they will make great end tables. Unfortunately no one will pay 200$ for speaker end tables, I asked if he could open them and tell me the name of the speakers no way he would. So does anyone have a clue? I am thinking pioneer. The label says radio people ltd hong kong.

I could not venture a guess as to what driver components were originally used, but the cabinets are definitely custom vintage offerings from The Radio People Ltd in Hong Kong. They could have had anything in there, remember those Lowther Hegeman Reproducers. Here are some knockoff off's of a pair of Wharfedale W3's I'd love to get a hold of.

Regards,
Mike

Maybe its the cut of the veneer but it doesn't look teak to me. I have had teak and it doesnt look like what I had, It does look walnut though.
Stay clear unless its 50 bucks or less.
More will come around.

Hmm ... Wharfedale W70 internals? They look to be 'bout the right size.

from the ad it looks like they are cabinets only and the speakers are long gone from what I recollect from eBay and other threads radio people used either warfedale or goodmans drivers

he sas they weigh 50lbs ea. the drivers are in there-new cones may mean refoam. i'm with tower boss-liable to be some serious hardware in there. look-see first if you can, and then, if good, try a $100 on the spot-if really good step on up to the $200. those could be very nice-the cabs would speak to me at $100.

Oh really? Hmm, my W70's are 24" H x 21 W x 12 1/2 D. So, taking into account the base and top of these, they'd seem to be just about right!

Late me rephrase....... the speakers in the ad have a different height to width ration that W70's. I guess I got side tracked comparing cabinets rather than thinking about components fitting.

I'd ask to see them and yank the backs off: There could be some seriously cool speakers in there. Two hundred bucks is a lot to ask, but you can always try to talk him down.

I agree that these type of speakers do come around; but it isn't everyday. Go have a look and let us know!!
