Anyone have/heard the monitor line of Tekton?

Sadly, I have come to the conclusion I am not going to get around to giving proper space for my ADS L1290/2's. (They are currently in a room only 10' x 15', with a corner closet taking up 3' x 5' of that space!)(And the speakers have to unfortunately point across the shortest distance. Add in the recliner, and my head ends up about 7' in front of the pair...which feels like 7"!)

As it makes the most sense to me to think about a room-appropriate set of speakers, I was wondering if there is any feedback regarding the Tekton line of monitors. I've read good reports on a variety of their towers, but nothing on the small guys.

The receiver that would be driving them is an SX-1280. (Also have TT, EQ, various RTR's but I doubt those are relevant)

I did skim through a couple of specific threads, and saw that there were many, many suggestions as to great small speakers. Unless I overlooked the posts, I didn't see any of the Tekton's mentioned.

There are four listed on the Tekton site:
  • Impact-Monitor
  • Pendragon-Monitor
  • Mini-Lore Monitor
  • Dynamite (new, according to Tekton)

Any feedback, comments, concerns?

Jeff, don't let go of the 1290's until you have found something that actually works better in that space.
 
Thanks, Drugolf, good point. The thing is (and I blame the room), I just haven't been impressed by these 1290/2's. The crossovers have been rebuilt, and all the drivers are in great shape.

No matter what I play, it's like, "eh, yeah...they're OK". They're just...bland. I'm guessing these require some decent space to show their stuff.
 
There is a thead about the Double Impact, not exactly a downsizing of the 1290 as it is larger than my 1590s. Heard a pair the other day but they were playing phase inverted and the owner says that the change to phase correct is a big improvement. He can hear a lot of things no one else in our group can hear until it is pointed out the differences. So I believe him when he says he basically got new speakers. He has only had them a few weeks and when his brother brought over a Cary preamp the speakers were completely different. Mike called the designer of his Response Audio preamp and found out it inverted phase. Now things are hooked up right and he says sounding better than ever.

When we were listening to speakers, hearing some Titon model we also hear a Totem and Paradigm, smaller floor models and they were pretty good, better than the Titons.

But as says, I would seriously consider a change in electronics.
 
Well try some other electronics, amps, receivers and see if the sound quality in your listening configuration is better. The 1290 is a very good speaker but it may well be too big for a 10 foot deep listening area, that 15 foot depth should work but rotating the room 90° might not work.

What sound quality is it that you don't like that leads you to say it sounds like you are 7" from the drivers? Maybe electronics can address that, maybe not.

I'm afraid I have only this 1280 and a Yamaha CR-2020 for power, so my A/B testing has been rather limited. I have played with my EQ options as well (I have an SG-9500 and an RG-2) but despite my best efforts, was never satisfied with the results.

Good question on the proximity of sound quality...I would have to say it's the lack of a wide soundstage. I feel as if I should be backing up quite a bit. The highs and the mids seem to mush together. Again, no fault of the 1290's, and you're correct, I cannot rotate the room 90°.
