Or were they a/d/s/ ? The L series were ADS. The B series are a/d/s. Which is post L series. And I agree with Duff, the black pebble industrial coating ain't as attractive as the real wood L series.
Also look for S or Sat series bookshelf speakers. They were later and sound fantastic. Thanks guys, I'll wait for a decent (read affordable) pair of the L series.

Don't judge a book by its cover. The B8 was one of the better 2-ways a/d/s/ made. IIRC they rolled in late '88 or early '89. Later they were replaced by the better looking L8e. Not many B's were sold and I recall seeing lots of cabinets getting the hammer. They need good stands and rock with a tube amp. B8's on a Dynaco ST70 (along w/ a ridiculously modified PB1500) were my mainstay for quite a few years. $40 is an absolute steal.
The more I think about this maybe I had B7's. I purchased them for another AK member and only used them for a couple of weeks. They didn't sound bad but didn't stand out to me either. I had purchased my S700's at about the same time and liked the S700's a lot more. Compared to the other ADS speakers I've owned (especially my pristine L810's with metal grills) the really cheap vinyl cabs were depressing.Don't judge a book by its cover. These are in absolutely pristine condition. If I could pick them up for $30, would you recommend it just for their historic value?
Dave
I wish I could say the same. Mine is tropical. So I rent storage space. :nono:Oh man, so many speakers, so little space. :sigh:
Thank goodness I have a dry basement!
