Anyone Heard of Celestion Ditton 121's?

Have a soft spot for Celestion, so grabbed these at a local garage sale - even though I'd never heard of the Ditton 121. Ditton 100's are still fairly common but these are bigger: 15.5" H X 10.5" W X 8.5" D. No evidence there were ever any grills. They've got, er, issues: the protective metal mesh is missing from one tweeter and the other box has a broken binding post. Rigged them up just to hear them and they sound fine. Typical Celestion highs with anemic bottom end. Cab finish is just okay - woodgrain vinyl and some other details that suggest budget level. Can't find any info on them anywhere. Were they designed to be guitar speakers? Anyone know the model? Thanks - Patrick

well they dont look like guitar cabs but thats a pretty cool find definatley post 1960's but thats obvious....... nice find though

Hmm, for some reason I seem to recall they were advertised in the Lafeyette catalog back in the 70's??

Used to love that catalogue, along with the RS one too. But I'm pretty sure if they were advertised in the Laf cat., they'd be second-third tier stuff.

But if they're made in the UK, they certainly should sound good...

Thanks both of you for your contributions. 'Guitar speakers' was a long shot, but they don't appear anywhere in Celstion's acrhival home stuff so I thought I'd raise that flag. Maybe too old. Would also agree they were likely aimed at the budget market - but 'when' remains the question. Still, respectable sound for what they are. Glad to hear from anyone else who might have an idea. Thanks again - Patrick
