Anyone Listen to "Everything"?

Very few things get under my skin but Michael Bolton, Celine Dion and Kenny G does.

Oh yeah, I feel the same way about those three. Add Josh Groban to that list. Ugh. I had forgotten about him.

But I think it's interesting that context can really make a difference for me. I really loathe hot-tub jazz and all that entails. But we have a local independet jazz and blues station that plays hot tub jazz during the morning drive, interspersed with some local news. I find it surprisingly tolerable, maybe even enjoyable, to a limited degree. It's a nice respite from the usual in-your-face you hear on a lot of morning programs.

But I wouldn't be caught dead playing Kenny G on my main system. I don't need to listen to it *that* closely. I might just go :nutz:

Well guess what I might be the only one here who might be blairing my car stereo, or home stereo with Snoop Dog, then switch the the local classical music station..
you don't need to feel so alone anymore.
A typical day for me might start (at 7:am) with a list like; Dead Kennedys-Give Me Convenience or Give Me Death, then maybe a side of Traffic's Low Spark album, a movement or two of Beethoven's 3rd-the Eroica, then in the car I might listen to White stripes, Leonard Cohen, or Missy Elliott, or maybe some Eric Dolphy.
I guess the only thing I don't like is cockrock (hairbands) and, Like RichPA, I have no interest in showtunes.

Onepixel, as usual, you are the voice of reason. I salute you.

There's a sense of humor to good Goth music that many don't see, unable to get past the doom and gloom on the surface. Alien Sex Fiend is a good place to start, since their humor is quite obvious.

Very true. "Bela Lugosi's Dead" by Bauhaus was firmly tongue-in-cheek.

I listen to anything. In doing research for my Doctorate I listen to a lot of music I don't like but I am learning to find something worthwhile in almost everything. The only act I truly detest would be Huey Lewis and the News.

I think there's brilliance in all genres, so I can't say something like "I like everything but rap" or "everything but country." I don't listen to most rap music, but I happen to think The Geto Boys and Grandmaster Flash had some brilliant output. I don't listen to most country music, but Hank Williams is one of my favorite artists of all-time. I pick and choose from every genre and make it a point to never listen to the radio. That way I don't let bad songs from a genre ruin the good ones.

Creativity. That, or at the very least, SOME voice or instrument that I like the tone of. I do also sometimes choose music by the producer or engineer.

Very little successful "pop", but there's some I like. I've worked on maybe 30 Broadway-type shows, so there are a bunch there I like and some that are dull. Have lots of classical (can't realy get into opera), but need a mentor there, I think. Lots of jazz here, too, mostly instrumental- I like having "no-words" music playing when I'm working.

My music selections give most people whiplash. Quick overview of today was Muggsy Spanier (dixieland jazz), live Kansas, The Knack (Zoom, with Terry Bozzio!), Paul McCartney live LD, Don Ross (gymnastic acoustic guitar), Fats Waller, Lionel Hampton, Jeff Golub, The Cult, Prince, Vladimir Horowitz, Jelly Roll Morton, Bill Monroe, Hank Williams, etc.

Tomorrow, I'm running the PA for a horn-driven funk band at a wedding. Fun.
