Anyone own a Kenwood KD-2077?

Assuming it arrives in working order, was this a good buy?

I just picked up a KD-2077 off ebay. Pictures look pretty good but the selling has a bit of bad feedback. I see the crack in the cover but not much else. No clue what stylus is on there but expecting to replace it. The anti skating weight seems to be there.

Either I got a steal or a project table to fix up I guess. I got a shipping notice today so I’ll be impatiently waiting to see what I end up getting. $99 including shipping.

I attached photos.

I’d be interested in hearing from anyone that owns or has owned one. What’s the difference in the KD-2070 model?

I had a dream last night that I received the package and shook it hearing stray nuts and bolts. The seller has a lot of audio gear in their shop for sale. 4 bad, really bad feedbacks, but out of like 2500.

I am not getting my hopes up to be honest. If it arrives in working order I will be ecstatic.

If it arrives working I'd say $100 is a fair price. Not "out of the park" bargain status, but I figure any properly functioning, mid-fi or better vintage table is worth ~$100, especially if the cart on it is halfway decent.

Ive had a kd5066 for 15 -20 years , looks similar , funny they all had the sagging kenwood logo , mine is under the knife at my place , rebuilding the board, has a unstable speed issue, just started last year, it wasnt a simple deoxit fix, I love those tables, cool purchase, I know quite a bit about them and their few quirks. overall great table.

While i dont own any kenwood gear, Im trying to this evening... :)

Regarding your table, looks good! Like others have said, lets hope they shipped it correctly.

I had a gent on eBay send me a Pioneer PL-112 and it was just thrown in a box. Got it and it was just junk. To far to even restore.

My case was intentional, they sold it as good cond, than claimed shipping insurance and asked that i just keep the table... Nope was expressed back and asked that they pay for shipping back. It was a scam, eBay gave me my money back but it was a huge pain in the neck.

Good luck on your table!

Kind Regards,
John

Love the pix, is that from the album cover? I just got that one a few nights back. Great album!

Yea i have the 12D and the 15D that im currently working on. Im also trying to land a Kenwood KD500 or 550 this evening. Fingers crossed! :)

I have the KD5070, higher up the line than the KD2077.

Nice table, lets hope it arrives in good shape from proper packing.

The KD550, which I also had, is in a higher league.

Conrgats! I have a 2077 I bought about three years ago on eBay for around $75. Bad packing job from the seller but all that happened was a small break in the arm rest (back catch broke off, so the arm can "sit" on the rest but it can't be clipped in/secured). Bummer, but it could have been much much worse. I don't use it as much as other tables because it lacks auto-return and I'm always running over to it (usually dripping wet from the shower) to raise the arm.

It is a solid table, very stable. Tracks well and I think the inner groove distortion is low. (It does have that Micro Seki look, it may be their product.) Mine has one peculiarity that may be a sign of motor fatigue. When you adjust the fine speed control, sometimes the motor shifts speed fairly violently - has a wide swing up or down in speed before it settles down again. So if you are adjusting speed using the strobe, do be sure to have your arm up and the stylus off the record, just in case yours do this too.

Oh, be sure to de-oxit the RCA plugs. They are cheaper and get oxidized easily. I just had a Dual table that was giving me hum and I think the de-ox clean helped eliminate that.

If I have any issue with speed I’ll reach out.

Do you still have the 211 to part out?
