Anyone recognize these JVC loudspeakers?

Just made an appointment to check out these JVC speakers I found locally for $100. Anyone recognize the model? Owner says they're from 1986.

I'll probably head over to give them a listen but I thought I'd post some photos here so I can get as much information about them as possible beforehand.

Not the name. Not JVC = Japan Victor Corporation... these abominations are "Japan Vicor Comp." [sic]. In other words, Brand X.

Avoid them like Zika virus.

The info card left out the tweeters! It skips from midrange to super tweeter.......to ULTRA tweeter. These look familiar. I believe all drivers are of the cone type. It also looks as though someone broke one of the plastic lens pieces. Hope that I am wrong.

Flea market speakers from the 1980s. Equivalent to White Van speakers.

I saw this ad many times on Craigslist, I assume you're in the NY area also. They're not the real JVC (Victor Company of Japan, the company that invented VHS), it's some faker using the same initials. Don't waste your time.

Build and sound quality will be in the realm of "white van special". Might make for good party speakers though. Asking price should be halved or even less though.

In the New York area you can do much better than that, even at half their asking price.

It may be letting the cat out of the bag, but there's a listing for Snell speakers on that CL that's worth checking out and that only the best listing for speakers < $100.

The good thing is you posted th here and now it's here for all to know, I looked simply because my 1st set of speakers I ever bought were some strange JVC with a rectangular passive radiator, 8" woofer, soft (sticky) dome tweeter and I think 2 rear mounted midrange cone drivers. May have been 1 but I can't help but think it was 2 per side. Simply awful, worst choice ever. I had the JVC 1st of it's kind turn knob free receiver, made the cover of Stereo reviews for years best. Digital was on its way, just not in a good way. That replaced an older HHScott receiver with some Bose 201s that sounded better. I don't count the Bose as a real 1st speaker, they were under $100. The JVC were near $350!
