Anyone tried Aquaplas on ADS soft dome tweeters?

I have a couple of ADS sticky soft dome tweeters that have been cleaned or damaged over time and have lost some of their sticky coating. I know Mr. So has a coating that he can apply but I don't want to send them to him for just this. I see Aquaplas advertised on Ebay as an "ADS soft dome restoration coating L520 L570, L710 etc.". Has anyone tried this to restore the coating and, if so, what were the results? I know the original coatings as applied by ADS were very controlled by weight, flexibility, etc, to give just the right tweeter attenuation so I'm curious to find out if this stuff will work.

but how are they sounding?

i understand the sticky coating is flexible, aquaplas IIRC wasn't flexible. Something like aquaplas will add mass to the diaphragm which will move DOWN the resonant frequency, which idealy should be above 20KHz.
 
Good point. I'm not sure how they sound or even how they should sound. I don't have the equipment to test them. Guess I could take them out and test with an ohm meter but I think that's just going to tell me if they are dead. When I cover the woofer and listen through a tube, I hear a high-pitched screechy sound so I don't think they're dead but not sure they sound like they should. I do have an old 7-band equalizer and was just going to hook them up and cancel out most of the bass to see if I could get them make noise at the higher frequencies. If they crossover at say 2000 Hz, does that men that I should get noise from them above that level? I saw that it was primarily used for for some kind of JBL and perhaps other surrounds so I assumed it was flexible. In their description they say it must be diluted with 45% Toluene and very carefully applied with a fine brush to avoid mass buildup. So, if it was just for 1 tweeter, the cost of the Aquaplas and Toluene would be more than a replacement tweeter but I've got a few that may need treatment.

After the years, I discovered the material I use is probably (95% sure) a water based sealant you apply before painting a wall, I don't know the english name or brands for that product, it's probably "Water-Based Primer/Sealer". It's very light, flexible when dry, and not very sticky (better than the original product IMHO)

Thank you. Now I just have to try to find something similar. Looks like it is either a latex painting sealant or a fabric woofer surround coating. The hunt begins!
