Anyone tried Nakedwines.com?

No affiliation. Just curious if others have tried the wines from this site, which uses a Kickstarter-type model to fund wine makers to make their own labeled wine.

A coupon came with another purchase I made, so I went ahead and bought a case that just arrived today. I'm the only one at the house that drinks much wine, so I usually wait for a wine-drinking friend to come by before partaking. It'll likely be a week or so before I try my first bottle,

I get the sense that the wines are nothing spectacular, fairly simple, but not really bad either. Works for me as an 'everyday' type of wine to have with a meal.

Anyone else tried these wines?

I got a similar voucher from a Sur La Table order.

I ordered the Angelic Customer Favorites case - comes with 5 whites and 7 reds, and the total including tax and shipping was $87. So $7/bottle or so.

I still haven't opened the first bottle yet - maybe this weekend though.

My wife used a voucher for these wines a couple years ago, she thought they were good although she never bought anymore from them. A couple months later I got an additional charge on my credit card for more purchases, it seems they were under the understanding that we were in some auto renewal program for their wines. A quick phone call straightened things out and never had another issue with them, so no harm no foul I guess just a misunderstanding. Just an FYI, they fixed the problem and were nice to deal with and prompt about it.

My understanding is that the purchase puts you on a list to become an Angel, which means they will take $40/month into an account that you can use to purchase wines at the 'discounted' Angel price - which I understand is actually closer to what the wines are worth - the full prices may be somewhat inflated.

Those $ (since people don't spend their credit balance right away) is used to fund independent wine makers to make their own name-labeled wines.

I can't see myself putting $40/month into this - I barely drink a bottle a month, but wanted to try the wines out and the price was right.

Well, there's no obligation to stay on the list. You can opt out immediately to avoid the $40/month, which is what I'm going to do. I think it's just a question of whether you want to try out 12 bottles of different wine (ones you'd never see in a store) for about $7 each.
