anyone try 'spin clean'?

Spelling and syntax - if your searches are not exactly as stated in threads, won't show. Google search sometimes works better :scratch2:

Re: Spin Clean - just ordered mine Monday night :)

I tried searching it and got nothing so paged around and found it manually. I knew it wasn't too far back. Good thread.

Missed that thread somehow, but there are several. Like someone else said, "google search" seems to work better for me also.

I've had mine for several months now and let me tell you, I'm lovin it. I've been putting quite a lot of mileage on it too. The difference that it makes on my records is just amazing to me. Thought that my first pair of brushes would be worn out by now, but they still look good so still using them. I'm getting far less surface noise than I did by my hand cleaning method and it's much easier too. I have no affiliation with Spin Clean. I just think that it's a great product.

For anyone who is new to using the Spin Clean, I would suggest getting some sort of rack for drying. I'll clean 25 records at a time, setting each in the rack after cleaning. Then gently dry them with the cloths. The elcheapo dish rack with drip tray from Walmart that I have works fine. I also use microfibre cloths for drying rather than the ones supplied.

I rank a Spin Clean in the middle of the pack. Better than the DiscWasher or hand cleaning but not as good as a Vacuum Record Cleaning Machine such as VPI, Nitty Gritty, Keith Monks, Loricraft, etc. A decent solution on a budget. Recommended for the price.

I know I should let someone who has one answer...but what the heck. They had some teething problems with the product but redesigned and improved the rollers; so they should hold up now. Hopefully someone will confirm this.

This is just a gut feeling. It is probably better than a Diskwasher and worse than my VPI 16.5. Just swaging it here.

Just spent a number of hours last weekend using my SpinClean for the first time.

Easy to use: just filled the basin with distilled water & 3 capfuls of the solution & began the cleaning process. Put on a movie and started to clean. 3-4 spins clockwise followed by 3-4 spins counter-clockwise; drain excess water & wipe clean with supplied cotton cloths or use microfiber cloths.

I had about 120 albums I wanted to clean. Some were in absolutely miserable condition (mold, old sleeve paper adhering to surface, etc). After about 40 albums, I decided to change out the basin as it was getting pretty murky. A lot of gunk settled down to the bottom! Refilled the basin with fresh water & solution, rinsed off the brushes and began anew.

I have to admit I was very impressed with how they look coming out of the SpinClean. Even the truly 'ugly' examples come out looking like a new record.

So how do they sound?
Well, that's the bottom line of this, isnt it? So I took the worst records—those that had the most crud on them prior to cleaning, and gave them a listen. Overall, I was very pleased the results. Sure, the major ticks and scratches remained— not surprised there—but the vast majority of annoying crackle was gone! :thmbsp:

I've plenty more albums to do, but I must say I've very happy with this product. Not only does it do a good job of cleaning both sides simultaneously, but it does so in a quick fashion.
