Anyone try the Transcendar replacement OPT for Fisher 800C?

Powered with pure tube sounds.
Just checking with the gang if anyone has bought one of their replacement output trannys for the Fisher 800C receiver. If yes, would you mind sharing your impressions?
Of course, i would rather purchase a replacement original OPT but so far no luck. If someone knows of one for sale please lmk. cheers, Primo

The transformers uses on the 500C and the X-101D integrated amplifier are all the same, so searching for those units will aid your search.

I have not used the Transcendar transformer for the 800C (which is normally a pretty stout transformer), but I have used Transcendar's offering for the KX-100 (X-100B), which is not. Thoroughly impressed both with the resulting lab performance, and that produced in the listening room:

I used a pair of Transcendars for my 300B SET amp. I have no complaints. They seem to be very well built and sound very good. I've also used his Chokes.

Thanks Dave. I checked my 500C outputs and they are smaller, less thickness in the lams by about 1". So, i can't use just 1 of that type of transformer. I did contact Transcendar, and their price is reasonable, as i thought it would be more expensive, so it looks like a definite maybe! Also wait time is only 2 weeks according to the person i am in contact with. I am holding out for a few days to find an original Fisher 800c OPT that someone is wanting to sell or someone has run across a seller that i can contact. Thanks for the help.

If the transformers on your 500C are different from those on your 800C, then something is wrong, meaning one or some of the transformers are wrong. Check the part numbers on all four transformers. The correct part number is T991-116-1 and T991-116-2, as shown in both the 500C and 800C Service Manuals, and as observed on both of my own 500C and 800C receivers. The last digit is not particularly important, as it only specifies how the leads were pre-trimmed by the transformer vendor so the transformers could the be directly installed in the chassis during manufacture without trimming the leads.
Sounds like one or some of the transformers on one of your units were replaced with non-standard transformers.

Hi Dave, it turns out that my 500 is B not C model. Hence the different size OPT from the 800C and evidently the 500C.

Don't get the 800c transformers for the 10001-19999 series. This series was exclusive to the 1963 Executive. They are 1.) a different #(T990-116 ), and 2.) slightly smallerin the Lam stack (by almost 1/8"). the output circuit on this series is different from the 20001-and up 800c's.

That would definitely account for the different size between the transformers.

I may have a spare 500C/800C OPT around here that was part of a box of stuff that I bought years ago.
