Anyone using Fiio R7 with Lyrion (Logitech) Media Server?

I have been using LMS to stream to squeezeboxes and computers for about 15 years. I like the server, but I'm thinking of subscribing to Tidal or other streaming service. The R7 looks pretty good, but I want to keep using my LMS. Since it runs on Android, I think I can just install a squeezebox player app and get it to talk to my server. Is anyone here doing that?

You may need a particular subscription level and install an LMS server plugin for a given streaming service. Appears that you already have what you need to make that work.

How do you plan on using the Fiio? I don't have an answer of if it will work as a dedicated player. Best to ask the manufacturer.

The Fiio R7 comes with or you can install apps for streaming services like Tidal. What I'm wondering is if I can also stream from my server to the R7 using a squeezebox player app - i.e. will the R7 show up as a player to my Lyrion Music Server?

LMS does this very well. They are called plugins. Most streaming services have a plugin that can be downloaded, installed, configured in LMS. Then the streaming service icon should appear in the menu in the web interface or any given player that connects to the server.

The iheart radio plugin was free and this may be good for you to start learning.

I understand plugins for the server. The R7 doesn't need my server to play streams from Tidal, etc., so I don't want to install plugins for the server. What I want to know is if the R7 can play streams from my Lyrion server by installing a squeezebox player app on the R7.

I don't know if you have done your task but maybe it will be usable.

The plugin for Upnp could be used to send music from LMS to Upnp, I think it was name Upnp bridge.
If R7 has Upnp renderer onboard and can receive music using upnp it can be possible way to do your task.

A word of warning for everyone. I’ve had my R7 for two years. Never abused. Always in the same spot and never moved.

I’m having LOADS of issues with the UI. It shuts down unexpectedly. Apple Music shuts down. Piping out of USB to an external DAC renders LO variable for some reason. I’ve done five factory resets trying to get the thing to behave. Reaching out for customer support is hopeless. Zero point.

I like the FiiO house sound, but for me I think it best to stick to their more “fun fi” offerings. I’ll never park this kind of money with FiiO again.

I ended up getting a Wiim Pro Plus. It talks to LMS without any screwing around and sounds great!

I'm using with LMS - Raspberry Pi with RoPieee - the sound very good and I didn't heard same in ready to use devices.
Also RoPieee supports Squeezelite - not required to get Upnp supports etc.
