Anything good in this tv?

Hey,

So funny story, I was talking to my grandma about my new found interest in tubes and she was really interested. So I asked her if she could keep and eye out for anything that might have tubes (old audio gear and such). She pauses and says we just pulled a really old TV out of our neighbors basement and its lying at the end of our driveway. So I hurried back to her place as fast as i could (it was a 2 hour drive) I had to go down anyways and I found this monster! I don't know if anything is good I see a rectifying tube and some preamp tubes but i dont know about the others. Any chance anyone knows anything about a Viking TCD-222.

So one thing i just noticed is that it is rated for 25 hz does that mean its useless now?

what rectifier is that? The 6sn7 is a good tube for pre-amps. At least that is what I am reading. I doubt you would wnat much from the tv set -maybe the transformer - there are guru's here who could answer that one for you.
Cool........

What does the TV look like? Is it in good condition? viking is a brand I haven't heard to much about, it may be worth keeping whole or pass it along to someone into old tv's.

You should go over to the TV forums on this website and post about that TV. I think that's a rare brand. Someone may want the whole thing! Save a TV's life!

So it looks like Viking is just the brand of Eatons. Which means its rebranded. So im about as far away as when i started trying to figure out about this tv.

Did you post about the tv over in the tv forums? You need to post there. The tv guys over there will help you.

Viking TVs of this vintage were made by Electrohome. As a fan of those
makes (see my name?) I would advise against destroying this piece of
history, but it's your TV. The chassis is not solid copper, it's only plated
aluminum. The 25-Hz rating just means that the power supply is beefed
up to work on that frequency (two chokes instead of one, etc.) but it
will definitely work on 60 Hz. I do have a schematic for it somewhere
if you are interested. Good luck.
