Apple AirPods or something similar?

I travel a lot for work and I'm looking to replace my Bose noise canceling headphones. I was thinking about the AirPods for their simplicity and easy connectivity. I know they aren't noise canceling, but I've heard they do a good job of blocking out ambient sound because they're in ear. Any recommendations? My requirements are comfort, noise blocking, and good sound quality (doesn't have to be top of the line here, mainly trying to get from point A to point B without losing my mind and listen to some good tunes along the way).

I travel all the time also. I settled on some inexpensive IEM's from Mass Drop. They do ok with the plane noise and for watching movies, they sounded ok with my old iPhone. I currently use the earbuds from my iPhone 7 due to the connection for music. The SQ difference isn't enough to matter for what I am using them for (just on the run). I put the effort in a set up for the hotel room.

I can only take the IEM's for about 6 hrs comfort wise. Sucks on those 16 hr flights.

Edit: I have tired using the BD 990's in the pic but being open back its not neighbor friendly.

So, you mentioned that you use the earbuds from your iPhone 7 due to the "connection" for music. Do you mean the lightning port? I have an iPhone 8 and that's why I was thinking about getting the AirPods. That way I wouldn't have to worry about getting an adapter or anything, and it'd be nice to be wireless when getting on and off the plane. With regards to the IEM's from Mass Drop, what model do you have?

Yeah I saw you on there. To bad you couldn’t make it Saturday.

I am using the corded (lighting , no 3.5mm now) buds since they came with it. Your right about the wireless probably being easier for those. I only use them on the plane so they are good enough. I will PM you the info on the IEM’s, I need to look, not sure what ones they are off the top of my head.

I did decide on HP’s for the hotel, they sound great with the Teac DAC/Amp.

No, I am on set #4 and I think these are keepers. I did Sony MDR 7506’s for awhile then tried AKG-K240’s, Beyerdymanic DT 770 250 ohm (closed back) and Beyerdymanic DT 990 (open back). The 990 are in the picture. I have settled on both the BD’s I think I prefer open backs as I always grab the 990’s. The only draw back is being open back everyone close to you hears them. That’s way I just do the earbuds or IEMs on the plane and save the HP’s for the Hotel.
 
I bought an adapter for my Apple 10x and plug my Sennheiser head phones directly into the phone. I don't like Bose anything, and Apple ear buds are a joke.
 
I have used Etymotic ER4® Earphones for very many years. Just listened to the new ER3/XR Earphones at Axpona and am thinking of buying another pair, just to get the bass boost.

I use the silicone earpieces and they do a fantastic job with noise reduction too.
