The power supplies for the Janszens can be updated. The 130 units have four panels per cabinet, not two as stated. I wonder where the midrange roll-off is on the ARs?

Not sure why he mentions the 755a... There is no 755a in an AR1W.

I don't think the 755a is a 12 inch speaker. I had some 755c's and they were 8 inch.

The AR1W.....the W after the AR1....that speaker doesn't have that expensive Altec Woofer in it. I don't know what it does have....but its not the same as the one in an AR1 speaker. Yes, a single AR-1 could bring around $1700....due to its woofer. ( and what the speaker represents...)

There are some AKers that know lots about these AR speakers! ( I'm not one of them...)

This set is on the auction site, starting at about 2/3 of the CL price. I bought a set of two panel Janszens from an AKer a couple months back, some small part updates brought them to life. I have them paired with some utility Advents with the tweeters disconnected, they sound pretty nice.

The 755a is an 8" midrange / "tweeter" unit. Tweeter is in quotes because it's not really... The AR1 is the same AR made 12" woofer as the AR1W but with the added 755a 8" driver. Opening himself up for a lot of possible headaches by stating 755a in an eBay auction....

So the AR speaker itself is just the woofer? The Janszen would be the only tweeter? Where is the midrange?

The AR1W is just the woofer, yes. Those are still worth a bundle but obviously nowhere near what the AR1s are worth. Literally ANY amount of research should have confirmed this--it's bizarre that the seller did so little research. .

The internal crossovers in the JansZens are at about 1000hz. The AR's might just roll off naturally.
