Ar-1x speakers, any good?

Thanks, tmad40blue, I've read and re-read your thread to familiarize myself with the procedure. Now if I could just remove the knob. I may have to drill out the tap screw as it will not budge.

Great rare find! If the pots aren't completely corroded out you can use my guide to clean and restore them - the link is down there in my signature.

Keep us updated; I've always wanted to own a pair of these, if only for comparison's sake. :)

I finally got a chance to look at these again today. I bypassed the potentiometer and the silent tweeter now speaks! I haven't given up on the pot, though. I still can't get the set screw out of the knob, so I can't pull it to rehab it. I hate to drill the screw out, but I may have to. It would suck to screw up the post. I'll get these rare birds up and running soon, regardless.

I pulled and discarded the shroud and the rockwool that the cabinet was stuffed with. I'm thinking cheesecloth and fiberglass as a replacement.

If anyone at Classicspeakerpages wants to peel off and post pics, feel free. I can't seem to get registered over there. I haven't gotten a response to my "application."
