AR-2Ax Opinion

if i had to choose, between two, i'd go with the AR2ax, and it's very good with mid-powered tube amps, but better with high powered SS:thmbsp: oh yeah!!:D

:thmbsp: I've not tried tubes on my 2AX's but they came alive with my Sansui 890DB - distinctly better than with Pioneer SX950 (though this may need re-cap), Sony 6065, and Pioneer SX 3700. There's a sweet spot that when hit you will know it. Moved the AR's to a HNL :D :tresbon:

I've had both the AR-2Ax and Rect. III Highboys. The ARs if I remember correctly were a bit more punchier the the R-IIIs. The R-III's sound seemed more effortless and because of the size had more sound. You won't need a lot of wpc for either.
ARs for rock
R-IIIs for vocals, jazz, classical
