AR 2ax speakers inquiry

I have recently acquired a pair of AR 2ax speakers,and I would like to know if these speakers were produced with cloth surrounds,or foam surrounds.The pair I have,has foam surrounds,that need replacing.Just wondering,if they switched to foam surrounds,during production. Thanks. Rich

Yes the AR 2ax had both foam and cloth depending on production years. There were 2 different tweeters used the later a black 3/4 inch dome the early models had a red 1 inch tweeter. The foam woofer and 3/4 inch tweeter were introduced with the AR-5 and was later fitted to the the 2ax. They were considered improved drivers.

I think the last version were 1975. They also had the ones with the expose wire tweeters and the back wired tweeters. There is finally a HIVi tweeter & coil upgrade for those with bad tweeters. I went with the upgrade and it was well worth it!
