AR 2ax Tweeter help

I am restoring a pair of AR 2ax speakers and one of the tweeter wires broke making it too short to reach the binding post.

I tried soldering a copper wire to the lead but the wire doesn't want to take the solder. I even rubbed the wire with steel wool attempting to clean it up so the solder would adhere better.

Any advice on how to extend the lead?

I believe I have seen references to those being aluminum wire leads and requires a particular solder (and experience) to rework.
