What a sucky drive

I left at 930 and got back at 7. Snow or rain 100% of the time. The bridge was under serious construction and the Mass pike was plenty congested. Didn't even stop for a burger, just held onto the wheel for dear life. I had a cup of joe at his place, listened to half a Miles Davis song on black plastic and left. But check these out. That's the bad one. I would joke that there is some lint on the screens on the other one but there isn't even that. I might have to indulge in a listening session regardless of that rotten woofer. Trying to carefully get the right thing for surrounds. The 12" woofer surrounds measure exactly 10" and mr. Ebay said 12 for it I think in his kit.

It is the same basic woofer that has been used in so many AR speakers such as the 3,3a,11 etc. Who did you order the surrounds from?
 
I don't even know what an AR is

But I found a kit on Bay out of Tennesee. Seemed to be him or nothing. Yee haw
 
There are a few sources for the surrounds-Vintage AR on the "Bay", Maddison Sound near Philly and others. Check out restoring the AR 3a on www.classicspeakers.net. There are some surrounds that will fit but the "cupped" area is the wrong size-good luck
 
Indeed 51" 120 liter capacity

Check out this little wire I fried. I smelled a little something as I was playing some demanding bassy rap music purty loud and I hadn't turned the fan on the 700 yet so I'm glad it wasn't the amp going cookoo. I would have to say after one session with the new foam that there is no way these were meant for rock music. The woofer is huge and you know something is up if even I'm turning down a song to enjoy it better. Maybe I'll try unplugging the 12" and see if it's more hellraising friendly.

Dude don't clip your amp and torture those AR-9s, sell them to someone who will appreciate them and get some Cerwin Vegas for rocking out. :(
 
You're probably right.

I don't think the amp clipped but it was on the suspicious left channel that the power meter starts at 8, whatever that means. I have some Vegas but one midrange is toast and I'm kinda lost as to how to find a 4 ohm 4 inch mid.
Bay has been futile. VS-120 is the model

Got it back on. One side is a speck quiet but they were always like that. Those resistors are really packed in there with that stuffing.
 
Oh I finally get it

My 700 was fine going off on some 300 watt Infinities 8 ohm and also with 500 watt SDA's but the same cannot be said for these AR's. 4 ohms go off not.
