Hi everyone

So i just acquired a really nice pair of mint AR LST , they are in a really good shape and were always maintened as they were in a pro environnement , i have a few questions that some expert here might know about !

My first question is about the impedance , those are 4 ohm speakers , when i measure with multimiter at speakers port it reads 10.4 ohm , i know that sepaker resistance isnt exactly impedance but this is really weird as i normally find values closer to the rating ( ie a 8 ohm speaker will often read around 6 ohms on multimiter ) .

I read there and there that a 10 ohm resistor was added to the 2500 uf cap to protect amps from failing ...

Now my concern is that i run them throught a PL 400 for now ( it has been upgraded and beefed up by pro ) and those phase linear amps are known to not handle well a loads under 4 ohm , on the paper the AR lst are supposed to go down to 2 ohm in certain frequency range ..

My question is mostly about this 10 ohm read out of speaker , does this mean the speakers wont demand a 2 ohm load any longer or is that totally irrrevelent ??

That's weird. Usually DC resistance readings are lower than the rated impedance. Are the pots working? If you exercise them while observing the resistance, do the values change?
Which is a different issue than the Phase Linear/4 ohm speaker problem. I suspect that the amps may not be ideal for the speakers. Whether the speakers or the amp matter more to you, I can't say.

Hi yes the only pot on it works and slghtly change Dc , but the most general question is about the fact there is a 2500 uuf cap with 10 ohm parralel in there from past maintenance is the reason i find 10.4 ohm dc ...
