AR1 1956 never been out of the family

Hi folks,

Hoping to get a read on current value of this classic speaker.

My Dad purchased it new in 56 and it has been lovingly cared for. The finish isn't perfect, but still quite good. Walnut, all the correct labels, etc. It has always been powered by a Heathkit tube amp, his or mine. I did a frequency check the full range ( 50 to 12k or better ) clean and to my knowledge has never been opened.

That likely sound better too. Most of the value is in the 755 Altec driver. About 2000-2500 for a single.

Agreed... $2000 for the one Western Electric driver. I picked up a pair for $500 years ago, Sold for mega bucks.

How do you know it's a WE driver, has the OP opened the cabinet for you?

The value is entirely variable based on who made the 755A.

WE always brings a premium. Can approach double in the case of 755A.

Being able to identify them helps a lot.
