AR11 Grill Frame

I was wondering if anyone has re-grilled their AR11's to replace the missing foam originals. I only have one foam grill so was thinking of making a frame. I already have the speaker cloth. Has anyone tried this and if so how did you do it? I was thinking of a frame about 1 inch deep. I do not have a table-saw so was wondering how I could cuts the cuts accurate enough.

when I get a roundtuit, I was going to do my AR18's....

the original 18's foam grille is 3/4" foam with a 1/2" bevel around the perimeter, the 11's should be the same (or maybe 1" with a 3/4" bevel)....I'd look at the local home center's moulding isle and see if you can find any poplar beveled moulding, and get a miter box. probably put a cross-brace between the long sides just above the woofer, and some triangular corner blocks at each joint for strength/rigidity.

quick search on home depot, I can't find any bevels, but a cove moulding or this corner moulding could give you the bevel like the originals once you stretch grille cloth over it

the other option is to get new foam grilles made...this guy does them

Thanks for that! You are basically on the same wavelength I was on. I more or less decided on the same route but haven't found the suitable molding yet and thought there might be an easier way.

I keep saying I'm going to build the frames for my AR11's but I still haven't gotten around to it yet. I'm going to do them where they retain the beveled edge look but it will be done with stacked wood or out of one piece and/or routered/angled. Haven't made up my mind yet. They'll be easy to do, though. But, I do have the advantage of having a table saw and a bunch of other wood working tools.
