AR7 vs AR-18... which are better?

Hi, For a very long time I've been trying to find a pair of original Acoustic Research AR-18 speakers with no success. There is a guy here that has a pair of AR7 speakers. I know that AR7 are predecessors to AR-18. The largest difference seems to be the ferrofluid in AR-18's tweeters. Otherwise, technically they seem almost identical... But what about their sound?! Many years ago I've heard AR-18 and I liked them a lot. What should I expect from AR7? I already have a pair of fully restored AR_90, but they only really start to sing when played loud. I wanted AR-18 for late night listening, since I remember them producing some nice music at lower sound levels. So, should I go for AR7 instead? What should I look for in a used pair? I guess that their tweeters were more easily burned due to lack of ferrofluid. PS I forgot to mention, tweeters are later models with wires on the back. The oval plate next to the tweeter is still present, but it is not in use. .

A lot of East Coast companies had two way speakers which omitted any crossover element on the bass/mid. Not just AR. Mind you, they all derive from the same inspiration.
