I'm in the process of helping my grandpa move out of his house and I may be taking some speakers home with me.

Would any of these be worth having?

Jensen TF-3

RSL Studio Monitor 3800

Altec 887A

...oh, and I'll also be bringing home his Altec A-7's :yippy:

I'd take them all.

I would, but he was hoping to get some money for them. Therefore I'm a little uncomfortable taking all three.

If I had to choose one set (and the A7's) what should it be?

Which would pair best with a Kenwood KR-4600?

I would be interested in the RSL or Jensen's if you need to free up some room. I will stand behind Turborusty in line as I don't want to step on anyones toes. Hope the move goes well for your Grandpa. Cool that your helping him out. Those TF-3's look kinda interesting. Can you listen to any of them and then choose which ones you would like??? Maybe not a good time to set up speakers if your moving. Sorry I can't help you out on which ones sound the best. I could probably pony up some cash for your grandpa but Turborusty has first dibs if he so chooses.

Congrats on those A-7's. WooHoo.:thmbsp: They would be fun to see at the Gathering next week. Probably tough to move around though.

Anyone of the others would work nice with that Kenny. Try them out,and take your pick. Myself I'd go with the RSL'S.:thmbsp:
 
I was just teasing, if you're interested in brokering these out to members, by all means, there's no "me" at the front of the line....have at it. :)

But on the speakers, they really all seem like they'd do well with your Kenwood. The Jensens might tend have a higher sensitivity(just guessing here), and therefore might give you the most output, relative to your receiver's wattage.

Not knowing the specs for certain, the studio monitors are likely to require more power to run to their full potential(again, just a guess).

And the Altec's appear to be a nice looking setup too. Perhaps more "middle of the road" than the others?

Sounds like you got the ones that REALLY matter already. :thmbsp:

Of the 3, I only have the Jensen TF3. Underrated, in my opinion. The woofers have a cloth surrount that's probably gotten hard. I had to refoam my pair - surrounds had developed cracks. I also recapped.
 
Looks like I'll be taking the RSL's. The jensens are going to garage sale for 50 and Grandpa is deciding to keep the 887As and the Kenwood. :sigh:

That's OK though because among the things we found in his house was a beautiful Scott 355, and it's MINE! :banana:

We spoiled him by removing almost 2000 lbs of scrap metal from his property, most of which was outside buried under 3 inches of pine needles. I nearly killed myself trying to help lift a 500lb electrical box into a dumpster when it slid off the side towards me.

I NEVER want to do that again

I guess I'm also taking the Jensens. I've agreed to sell them for him back in Oregon, so maybe I'll get to use them a little first.

I'll start a A-7 restoration thread when I get back home.
