I've got the 510's and like them very much. Not sure about the 310's but the 510's are 4 ohm. Make sure your amp is up to the task.
Thanks a lot @swamppirate for the reply. What kind of amp are you using to power yours?

I got myself Sansui 771, I believe it should be able to power these babies no?

If anyone has experienced with a closer series, would love to hear your feedback because I might be able to get a mint condition pair for very negociable $$$ under 100$ CAN

Thanks again ;-)

I used to own TSW-410's, and they were great speakers. Lively and dynamic. Not laid back, but I liked their detail. Good luck.
Thansk man, I just replied to you in other thread and I found a video on youtube about the TSW-310 & kinda digging the sound

Wow. I didn't realize both reply's were to you. I don't usually look before I leap. Still, finding 2 different models of 10" 2-way AR's is pretty slick. I'd have to get both. The 70's should be a bit warmer is sound, relaxed and musical. At least that's how models with that tweeter sound to me. Then the 310's, they should be a little more open and exciting. Probably good for EDM or techno. Jazz too. So, 70's for classical and the 310's for rock! :D

Yes you were replying to me hahaa all good.
I just sent a msg to owner of the TSW-310 to negociate the price. And if all good, I should get go and get them tomorrow ;-) I'll see about the 70Ls, maybe will go and have a listen to them first... and meanwhile I'll try the 310's

I usually run them with a circa Sansui 5500 receiver and don't really crank them very loud. It is I think 45 watts per chan.

Cool than I think my Sansui will do the job and will work great with.

Tell me, the TSw-310 were announced at 100$ CAN negociable . I contacted the seller and he decided that he wants to keep the same price because he says these series are still sold higher price than what he announced. Now I offered him 80$ max and I go pick them up. And he replied saying he'd let them go at 90$. What ya think? Worth or better wait for other ones or another AR series??? I mean I already have many AR & other brand checked in my kijiji etc.. favorites that i'm planning to buy but these 310 would be my first try bringing a vintage speaker set in my own house etc.. as only got Active high-end studio monitors.
And as I said, its not like i'm in quest to buy the most expensive vintage set of speakers out there... this is just as hobby sound vintage lover, so if I can negociate price etc.. why not..

What ya think? Get them or pass??? hahaha

Getem !

I have a pair of TSW-410 that get rotated in/out of the living room system,IMO they're damn fine speakers.
They're very comparable to the other set of speakers that get rotated with that system, and those are JBL LX-44.
Both those are 8" 3 ways with Ti tweeters, one sealed (the AR's) the other ported (the JBL's).

I got my TSW's as basket cases from Value Villiage for next to nothin ($7.00 IIRC).
Due to their sad condition I had to put a decent amount of time & $$$ into 'em to get them back into service.
Anyhow I guess the fact that I put that effort & $$$ into them is a testament to what I felt about their "worthiness"...

I currently drive those 410's with an Adcom GFA-535 Mk1 amp that uses a Adcom GTP-450 preamp w/a Rotel RE-1010 EQ in the EPL.
In the past I've also used an Adcom GFA-5200 mosfet amp to drive them as well.
Both the Adcom amps did so no problemo, with excellent SQ to boot.

You do realize that you are hearing them through your speakers and not the AR speakers on YouTube, right?

Hey mate,
Absolutely, I totally realize and understand that i'm listening the AR from Youtube through my speakers, to be precise through my headphones. But the reason people do these examples especially those who create these speakers video playback in high definition or captation is to give people a glimpse overall of what they sound like no?? I'm not basing myself solely on this youtube video to make my final choice, come on. When i'll pick them up I always request to listen first with music that I know very well mate. Don't worry about that ;-) Thanks for chiming in @classic carl

Hey guy!
Going to grab them in less than 30 minutes ;-) What I don''t like is that the owner have already unplugged them so I can listen to them before. But I'll grab them for 90$ CAN. I'll plug these this week-end and see how they sound. I'll make sure to tell the owner that I need to hear them this week-end and make sure they're not defect. Even though he assures me that they are working flawless without any issue at all.

Will keep you guys updated ;-) Thanks for the help

Happy Thanksgiving to ALL ;-)

Best,

Hey guys!!

Alright, here I am posting you guys a quick message to tell you that I finally got the AR speakers TSW 310 and man honestly I'm surprised how good they sound. I wasn't expecting to be "in love" like this even thought the feedbacks you guys gave me here most of them were positive towards these speakers but I'm impressed.

Connected them with in my Hybrid studio with my other speakers through my Sansui 771, playing back through my Antelope Soundcard high grade mastering soundcard going to the Sansui and man, I was thinking i'd be disappointed in terms of low end but not at all. they are fine.
The highs are not that sweet as its how I mostly love them for hi-fi but these ones are a bit in your face, forward, they cut through just like NS-10, they are not the sweetest but still great. Won't compare their tweeter with my Focal that has Beryllium tweeter. And image is great.

Over all i'm loving that 2 days ago I saw other TSW line 210 & 410 (3 way) and i'm thinking of buying them haahaaa

Besides that, physically, they are great. The only thing that I'd need to fix some day is in the surrounding of the Tweeter, there's this kind of velcro tissue on the tweeter that some part have gone out because of time etc.. But other than that all good

Anyhow, I took one picture to share quickly here but I'll take other with better light cool.

Again, big thanks guys, all the inputs led me to these AR beauties and I'm loving it.

Next stop either I'm grabbing the other series I mentioned above of the TSW but I also have in mind to grab a nice pair or Chartwell speakers /Spendors/Linn Kan MKII / and nice big pair Celestion Ditton.

Also saw a pair of French Apogee 3a and Elipson 1002.

But gonna enjoy these AR first ;-)

Thanks a bunch for all folks, you guys are the best

I don't know. Are you sure you have the original woofers on yours. I grab a couple of TSW 310 pictures from the internet of stock TSW 310:

39230412_614[1].jpg

463284-ar_tsw310_speakers[1].jpg

and clearly:

The woofers on these internet images look different from yours. Note the much smaller dust caps and clearly visible front voice coil points (the dust caps on the stock AR woofers do not cover the front voice coils completely). Yours do. Also, your woofers have 8 screw holes in the round cardboard paper border rings for the woofers (but only 4 holes are used, indicating incorrect rings were used as well). The correct rings have only 4 screw holes. In addition, the foam surrounds, and well as the "acoustic blankets" around your tweeters are also different from stock.

I have the stock TSW 410, and all of my speaker details described above are similar to stock TSW 410 pics found on the internet and stock TSW 310 pics mentioned herein.

You may have a pair Frankenstein TSW 310?

Me - personally with these questions and doubts - I would not have purchased these ARs as shown in your picture.
