Are These Custom Speakers?

Hey guys!

While this is my first post (as I’m a new member) I’ve learned much from reading others posts through the years. So, thank you.

Okay...I was, of course, hoping that one of you might be able to help me either ID the manufacturer of these speakers or let me know if they were custom builds. I wanted to scour the net before asking, but have come up with nothing after a year.

Curious. They don't really look DIY, however, the grills are way thicker than they need to be, the cloth staples and grill cutouts look amateurish, and the grain on the veneer is horizontal rather than vertical. OTOH, the build in general looks like it was commercially done (possibly the grill was replaced by a previous owner). Either way, looks like a fairly low quality cabinet. The frame around the front baffle has been made twice as thick as the actual (thin) cabinet walls, leading me to think it was designed to deceive. Capacitors connected directly to the drivers, and the cheap looking drivers in general are other clues as to their quality.

I wouldn’t expect much out of them. Cheapish looking drivers and cabs. But hey, if they sound good to you that’s all that matters.
I have a hunch that they were someone’s house brand.

The 2 tweeters would seem to be likely to have a vertical interference pattern. Is the photo of the back of a driver, the midrange? Having a closed backed midrange would not be ideal. And the port (in the lower left?) looks to be pretty small, and possibly tapered smaller at the inside end?
