Are these genuine Technics SL 1210?

Hi Guys.

Need your opinion.

Do you think, from the pictures, that these are original Technics SL 1210 turntables?

Found a guy here in Portugal that says he refurbished these turntables and painted them white (with a professional painting method). Not my favourite colour by the way...

They seem genuine, but i guess if you could get a Numark turntable and buy the original stickers and buttons...

The Stanton mat...kind of throws me off.

Need your expert eyes on this! :)

I don't see anything that suggests these are not genuine. The hole for the 45 adapter has been filled in, but other than that everything is stock aside from the color.

From what I can see, It seems fine.
Don't worry about the mat, it'll be the first thing to go.. the orignal mat is still available on the net. Or you can choose the one that best suits you. A world of options and expreriments!! :D
 
The picture you supplied is not an SL1210MK5 as there is no speed control buttons (mark 5 had one large button to the left of the slider, earlier 1210s had 2 buttons below the slider), so they are more then likely SL1200. However, there does not appear to be an LED at the "zero" mark for the speed control slider. The anti-skate control control dial only goes up to 3, so it is not an SL1210MK5. There is also no hole in the upper left hand corner for the 45 rpm adapter, also the SL1210MK5 had a hole near the tonearm base to store an extra head shell.

He did mentioned some change he made on the pitch adjuster... and now has no click on the zero position. Is that what you where referring to?
 
I would guess that all of these are MK2's, 1210 simply means it was black where the 1200 is silver/grey, there were 1210MK2's as well as 1200MK2's. The other MK's (3-6) all have different plinths than the MK2, with reset buttons, pitch shifting buttons, electronic pitch displays, and spare headshell holes depending which generation it is. The MK4 also had 3 speeds (33/45/78) and non-captive interconnects (was a Japan-only model)

To the OP - if the platter (and dust cover underneath) is removed, this is where you can tell beyond a shadow of a doubt if these are truly geniune. The main circuit board will clearly be marked Technics as will the AN6680 IC chip (the large one on the same board).

I still think these are genuine, but a picture of the TT with the internals exposed would confirm for sure.
 
Looks like a legit mk2 to me, but if you get to see it before buying just pop off the plater and the circuit board will say "technics", as will the underside of the platter.
